We tried Airbnb (as a guest) for the first time this year and it was a wonderful experience.
We spent New Year in Art’s place at Infinity Tower in BGC. The wide view of the metropolis from his unit is a huge plus for the fireworks display and the fully functional kitchen (with oven) made our simple celebration pull off a festive feel. You can see the details of our simple New Year celebration here.
Art was so punctual, starting from responding to my inquiries up to the check-in and check-out reminders, he’s always on time. He was also cool and trusting – upon checking us in, he gave us the full access to his flat without a lengthy roll of do’s and don’ts plus allowing us to leave without checking the room. And last but definitely not the least… He gave us an excellent review…
I guess we landed as one of Art’s best guests because first, we promptly replied to his check-in and check-out reminders, we gave him time estimate of our arrival and did not keep him waiting. Second we treated his place like our own – tried to generally tidy-up everything, even the bed, before leaving (well, we always do this even when we’re staying in hotels… so we’ll make sure there’s nothing left under those pillows and sheets). Lastly, we gave him honest reviews and discreet/gentle reminders.
You see, what comes around goes around… and that’s one thing I really liked about our Airbnb experience. It is somehow attuned to our minimalist lifestyle, nothing too fancy, just honest to goodness comfort you need plus a great opportunity of meeting a friend, a friend who will always welcome you to his home.
